What you are describing does not sound like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. The only time JPEG would not be available as a format when saving is when the document is 16 or 32 bit/channel, or in a color mode that LAB doesn't support. Opening a PDF, and saving it as a JPEG file should be just as simple as we said above. What you are describing does not sound like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. PHOTOSHOP TRAINING FOR PHOTO MODIFICATION

Photoshop Course (CS4, CS5, CS6 and CC version)

Photoshop is the pioneering tool of photo editing, appeared in 1990, and whose original code proudly sits in a museum of computer history!

This software is used today for all graphic elements visible on magazines, brochures, posters, etc. It has a very wide range of features.

It is therefore logical that we generally see a perplexity among beginners Photoshop in front of a software also thought for uses other than photography.

This course puts you in the direction of the march for a 100% photo use and reveals the dizzying possibilities that Photoshop offers you for improving and optimizing your shots.

You'll quickly get acquainted with Photoshop's interface, tools, and features to solve the most common digital photo problems by implementing layers, merge masks, adjustment layers, layer styles , and the modes of fusion. With this dynamic course, you'll be able to optimize your workflow to spend most of your time shooting.

The expertise of a trainer always at your disposal, you will acquire, at your own pace, the philosophy and techniques of retouching digital photos to become completely autonomous in your daily work.

In order to allow the participants to better understand the Photoshop functions and techniques, the explanations are based on concrete cases of digital photo editing.

SometimesPhotoshop may not be able to determine the correct format for afile. This can happen, for example, because the file hasbeen transferred between two operating systems. Sometimes a transferbetween Mac OS and Windows can cause the file format tobe mislabeled. In such cases, you must specify the correct formatin which to open the file.

Note:

You can retain (wherepossible) layers, masks, transparency, compound shapes, slices, image maps, and editable type when bringing your Illustrator artinto Photoshop. In Illustrator, export the art in the Photoshop(PSD) file format. If your Illustrator art contains elements thatPhotoshop doesn’t support, the appearance of the artwork is preserved, but the layers are merged and the artwork is rasterized.

  1. Select the name of the file you want to open. If thefile does not appear, select the option for showing all files fromthe Files Of Type (Windows) or Enable (Mac OS) pop-up menu.

If a file was saved with an extension thatdoesn’t match its true format (for example, a PSD file saved witha .gif extension), or has no extension, Photoshop may not be ableto open the file. Selecting the correct format will allow Photoshopto recognize and open the file.

    • (Windows) Choose File > OpenAs, and select the file you want to open. Then choose the desiredformat from the Open As pop‑up menu, and click Open.

    • (Mac OS) Choose File > Open, and choose All Documents from the Show pop‑up menu. Thenselect the file you want to open, choose the desired file formatfrom the Format pop‑up menu, and click Open.

    Note:

If the file does not open, then the chosen format maynot match the file’s true format, or the file may be damaged.

AdobePortable Document Format (PDF) is a versatile file format that can representboth vector and bitmap data. It has electronic document search and navigationfeatures. PDF is the primary format for Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat.

SomePDF files contain a single image, and others contain multiple pagesand images. When you open a PDF file in Photoshop, you can choosewhich pages or images to open and specify rasterization options.

Youcan also import PDF data using the Place command, the Paste command, andthe drag-and-drop feature. The page or image is placed on a separatelayer as a Smart Object.

Note:

The following procedure is only for opening generic PDF files in Photoshop. You don’t need to specify options in the Import PDF dialog box when opening Photoshop PDF files.

    • (Photoshop) Choose File > Open.

    • (Bridge) Select the PDF file and choose File > Open With > Adobe Photoshop. Skip to step 3.

  1. In the Open dialog box, select the name of the file, and click Open.
  2. Under Select in the Import PDF dialog box, select Pagesor Images, depending on what elements of the PDF document you wantto import.
  3. Click the thumbnails to select the pages or images youwant to open. Shift-click to select more than one page or image. The number of selected items appears under the preview window. Ifyou’re importing images, skip to step 8.

    Note:

Use the Thumbnail Size menu to adjust the thumbnailview in the preview window. The Fit Page option fits one thumbnailin the preview window. A scroll bar appears if there are multipleitems.

  4. To give the new document a name, type it in the Nametext box. If you’re importing more than one page or image, multipledocuments open with the base name followed by a number.
  5. Under Page Options, choose from the Crop To menu to specifywhat part of the PDF document to include:

Crops to the smallest rectangular region that includes all the text and graphics of the page. This option eliminates extraneous white space and any document elements outside the Trim Box.

    Note:

Bounding Box will not crop white space that is part of a background created by the source application.

Crops to the original size of the page.

Crops to the clipping region (crop margins) of the PDFfile.

Crops to the region specified in the PDF file for accommodating limitationsinherent in production processes such as cutting, folding, and trimming.

Crops to the region specified for the intended finishedsize of the page.

Crops to the region specified in the PDF file for placingthe PDF data into another application.

  6. Under Image Size, enter values(if necessary) for Width and Height:
    • To preserve the aspect ratio of the pagesas they’re scaled to fit within the rectangle defined by the Widthand Height values, select Constrain Proportions.

    • To scale the pages exactly to the Width and Heightvalues, deselect Constrain Proportions. Some distortion might occurwhen the pages are scaled.

When more than one page is selected, the Width and Heighttext boxes display the maximum width and height values of the selectedpages. All pages are rendered at their original size if ConstrainProportions is selected and you don’t change the Width and Heightvalues. Changing the values will scale all pages proportionatelyas they're rasterized.

  7. Sets the resolution for the new document. See also Aboutpixel dimensions and printed image resolution.

Sets the color mode for the new document. See also Colormodes.

Sets the bit depth for the new document. See also Bitdepth.

The Width and Height values plus the Resolution determinethe final pixel dimension of resulting document.

  8. To suppress color profile warnings, select Suppress Warning.

Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) can representboth vector and bitmap data and is supported by virtually all graphic, illustration, and page-layout programs. The Adobe application thatprimarily produces PostScript artwork is Adobe Illustrator. When youopen an EPS file containing vector art, it is rasterized—the mathematicallydefined lines and curves of the vector artwork are converted into thepixels or bits of a bitmap image.

You can also bring PostScriptartwork into Photoshop using the Place command, the Paste command, and the drag-and-drop feature.
